Apple has released the first public beta of iOS 16.6, a minor update that is expected to include bug fixes and performance improvements. The beta is available to registered Apple Beta Software Program members, and can be installed on compatible iPhones by going to Settings > General > Software Update > Download and Install.
The iOS 16.6 beta does not appear to include any major new features, but it does include a number of bug fixes and performance improvements. Some of the changes that have been reported in the beta include:
- A fix for an issue that caused some iPhones to lose cellular service after updating to iOS 16.5
- A fix for an issue that caused some iPhones to crash when using the Messages app
- A fix for an issue that caused some iPhones to overheat when using the Camera app
- Performance improvements for the Home app
- Performance improvements for the Weather app
