Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has raised the voice over 17% sales tax on electric cars and low quality of locally assembled cars.

A meeting was arranged under the chairmanship of Noor Alam Khan attended by FBR Chairman Asim Ahmed Secretary Industries and Production Imdad Bosal including representatives of car companies.

The delays in vehicle delivery and low quality build of local manufacturers is the top line agenda of the meeting.

An official representing Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) said that the company currently has orders for 20,000 units, claiming that the new Suzuki cars contain all the safety features, hence the rise in demand.

The EDB officials complained that the carmakers do not allow the board to inspect the new vehicles to ascertain whether they meet the safety standards.
