Punjab Government has decided to impose a ban on public gathering at Greater Iqbal Park including Minar-e-Pakistan to prevent the damages to plantation at the Park. The park was faces Rs. 5 million loss in a result of damaged caused by public rallies of political parties.
The chief minister Punjab also rejected a proposal to charge an entry fee from people coming to the Greater Iqbal Park and said that it was a park for people from all walks of life and he would not allow any entry fee.
The mausoleums of Allama Iqbal and Hafeez Jalandhari are also situated in the park.
