    Gotthard Base Tunnel, Switzerland

    The Gotthard tunnel is the world’s longest and deepest rail tunnel. The Gotthard tunnel is 57 km (35 miles) long and is designed to provide a high-speed rail link from Rotterdam in the Netherlands to Genoa in Italy. The tunnel has helped to decrease the travel time between Zurich, Switzerland, and Milan, Italy, by an hour.

    The Hakkoda Tunnel is 16.4 miles (26.4 km) long railway tunnel located in central Aomori Prefecture, in the Tōhoku region of Japan. It passes through the Hakkōda mountain range and links the town of Shichinohe with the city of Aomori.

    Lotschberg Base Tunnel, Switzerland

    Lotschberg Base tunnel is 21.5 miles (34.6 km) long railway base tunnel cutting through the Bernese Alps of Switzerland. It runs between Frutigen, Berne, and Raron, Valais.
