Amazon Goes Fully Autonomous with Amazon Proteus Mobile Robot
Amazon introduces the first fully autonomous mobile robot called Proteus to work at their warehouses throughout. This robot can pick and move large carts in warehouses and also equipped with advanced safety, perception and navigation technology. This robot can safely navigate around human employees.
Amazon claims all its new robots could actually help improve safety. Cardinal operates in places where workers would otherwise lift and twist heavy packages, a movement that can lead to injuries, and Proteus could “reduce the need for people to manually move heavy objects.” The company’s also working on a robot that would deliver containers to workers rather than having them bend or climb to reach items.
