The US Commerce Department called up by a group of Senate Democrats forcing demanding to develop a strategy for universal charging standard for all smartphone devices in the country. The demand of US senators for single charger use is comes after European Union Commission decision to implement USB Type-C charger common charger for all mobile devices.
European Union Commission has already signed a deal with electronic manufacturers on use of single common charge i.e. USB Type-C charger for all mobile devices. All the smartphone devices including tablets, laptops, keyboard and other household devices are mandatory to equipped with USB Type-C ports by the end of 2024.
Unlike the EU Commission, the US Commerce Department is not bound to adopt USB-C as universal charging standard. The US is planning to make a comprehensive strategy to develop its own standards
