    USB Type-C will be Common Charger for all new mobile devices After 2024

    USB-C will become mandatory for all new phones launched in the EU after fall 2024. USB Type-C will be Common Charger for all new mobile devices After 2024

    European Commission has signed a deal on common charger to use USB Type-C as common charging port for all electronic devices including laptops, e-readers, earbuds, keyboards, computer mice, portable navigation devices, smartphones, tablets, digital cameras, headphones and headsets, handheld videogame consoles and portable speakers. The European Commission has been pushing for a university charging solution for all electronic devices.

    This means more savings for EU consumers and less waste for the planet:

    USB Type-C cables are extremely versatile, being able to simultaneously transfer data, carry a video signal. The USB-C standard currently supports power delivery at up to 240W.

    EU Consumers will be able to choose between purchasing a new device with or without a charging brick included in the box.
