Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced the launch of a new direct flight route from Lahore to Paris.
Weekly Direct Flights
In a statement released Thursday, the national flag carrier confirmed that non-stop flights from Lahore to the French capital will commence on June 18. The route will operate once a week, with departures scheduled for every Wednesday.
The move is part of PIA’s gradual restoration of its European flight network, which had been suspended since mid-2020 due to regulatory restrictions.
EU Ban Lifted After Over Four Years
PIA’s return to European skies began earlier this year after the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) lifted a ban that had been in place since July 2020. The suspension followed revelations of a fake pilot license scandal, which led European regulators to revoke the airline’s access to EU airspace.
The airline resumed operations with its Islamabad-to-Paris route in January.
Targeting Business, Leisure, and Diaspora Travel
According to airline officials, the new direct route is expected to benefit business travelers, tourists, and members of the Pakistani diaspora living in France and other parts of Europe. Direct flights are anticipated to reduce travel time and offer more convenient options for those flying between the two countries.
PIA is currently the only Pakistani carrier operating direct flights to the European Union.
