Nothing Phone (1) Features and Specs Review

The Nothing Phone 1 is a good midrange device with flashing lights on the back. The phone 1 claims to be deeper interactions and brave simplicity. Nothing phone 1 has the unusual look seems the back is partially transparent. The phones back light strips becomes the most attention-grabbing feature blink in combinations with “glyphs”.

Glyphs is the unique light-up notification. There are 20 total in two sets, each tied to a corresponding sound: 10 glyphs for notifications and 10 for ringtones. (You can enable one without the other — lights-only for silent notifications or sounds without lights, but you can’t change which tone each glyph is assigned to.) On a high level, you can set a glyph for all incoming notifications and one for all calls and leave it at that, or you can get more granular by going into individual app settings.

Because the glyph lights are tied to specific tones, you can use them for any app or feature that lets you customize alert sounds. You can assign specific glyphs to individual contacts, though you’ll only see (and hear) the glyph you picked when that contact calls you, not when they message you, which is a bummer — who talks on the phone?

The white lines in the area of the camera and the charging coil for wireless charging also looks elegant. A volume rocker on one side, with a power button across on the other.

The phone comes with a 120 Hz refresh rate 6.55-inch touchscreen display offering a resolution of 1080×2400 pixels (FHD+). It comes with 8GB, 12GB of RAM. The Nothing Phone 1 runs Android 12 and is powered by a 4500mAh battery.
