Kuwait’s Public Authority for Manpower has launched an automated system to verify academic qualifications for work permits, aiming to prevent fake certificates and ensure proper oversight for expatriates, GCC nationals, and stateless individuals through the Ashal portal and Sahel Business app.
This initiative was introduced after fake academic documents were found among applicants, aiming to uphold the credibility and trustworthiness of Kuwait’s labor market.
Marzouq Al Otaibi, Acting Director General of the Authority, stated that the system will check academic qualifications to ensure they’re genuine before issuing work permits. The checks will focus on key details to confirm the documents’ authenticity.
The system will check:
- The applicant’s academic degree
- Their area of study
- Whether the qualification meets the Ministry of Higher Education’s standards
This is part of Kuwait’s plan to ensure that only qualified people get jobs and to better manage its workforce.
