    Water is Key for Life

    Water is necessary for all living things whether they live at the bottom of the ocean or the driest desert. Water made life possible on Earth.

    Water in Oceans

    Almost all of the water on Earth is in our oceans. 96.5 percent of Earth water is in the oceans covering 71 % surface of Planet Earth.

    Water in Ice

    68 percent of Earth’s freshwater is locked in ice and glaciers. 30 percent of Earth’s freshwater is in groundwater, and remaining is available in lakes, rivers and streams.

    Frozen Water Could Not Sink

    Most of the solids sink in water, but unusually solid water or ice floats. If ice sank, whole oceans could freeze solid!

    Water in Human Body

    Most of our body is water. A newborn baby is 78 percent water. Adults are 55-60 percent water. Water regulates our body temperature.

    Water defies Gravity

    In plants, water defies gravity.

    One of the interesting characteristic of water is “Sticky”. This “stickiness” helps get water from the roots of plants up to the leaves.
