The German Opportunity Card is also known as Chancenkarte. This is a new visa program designed to attract talented individuals from around the world. It allows you to enter Germany without a prearranged job offer, granting you up to one year to search for employment.

It is a points-based system and is designed to streamline the process of moving to Germany for non-EU citizens. There are a total of 14 points and people have to score a minimum of 6 points to be eligible.

  5. Previous stay in Germany (1 point)
    • 1 point is awarded if you resided in Germany for 6 months.
  6. Spouse (1 point)
    • If your wife also fulfills the requirements for opportunity card you can get 1 additional point.
