Hackers Steal Data of 1 million Students and Teachers of University of Kashmir

The data of nearly 1 million students and teachers of University of Kashmir in Sirinagar Jammu and Kashmir was allegedly hacked and put for sale on dark web.

University of Kashmir probing the matter of alleged data leak. The matter of data leak just spotted when the database of the University of Kashmir was put on dark web for sale on $250. Threat actor goes by the name “ViktorLustig” selling the database of University of Kashmir.

According to web sources the threat actor has student information, registration numbers, emails, passwords, employees, and more data.

A spokesperson for the university said,

“The alleged breach is being analyzed and as per the preliminary analysis, it has been found that the data is unmodified. Any breach on data read (which is already accessible in the public domain) is being analyzed in-depth and depending upon the analysis, University will take further course of action and take an appropriate legal recourse accordingly.”

The Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT), under the aegis of the Ministry of Information Technology (MeitY) has also sought an immediate report from the authorities of Kashmir University about the data breach.
